Widow Pension in AP – Good News with Release of GO
There is good news for widows in Andhra Pradesh regarding the widow pension. The government has released a new GO with important details on how to apply for the widow pension, required documents, and more. Let’s look at the full details of the newly released GO.


Widow Pension in AP Eligibility
As per government orders, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria for the widow pension:

  • The applicant must be at least 18 years old.
  • The applicant must be married.
  • The woman’s husband must be deceased.
  • A death certificate of the husband must be provided.
  • Under the NTR Bharosa pension scheme in Andhra Pradesh, a monthly amount of ₹4,000 is provided to eligible widows.

Widow Pension Required Documents
To apply for the widow pension, the following documents are required:

  • Aadhar card
  • Ration card
  • Husband’s death certificate
  • Aadhar-linked mobile number
  • Caste certificate
  • Income certificate
  • Current bill

Widow Pension in AP Apply
Applications for the widow pension must be submitted at the Gram Ward Secretariat. Once applications are submitted, they will be verified at the MPDO/Municipal offices. After verification, the government will release the new pensions.


Government New Order’s Passed
The government has passed a new order under the NTR Bharosa Pension Scheme to provide widow pensions to the surviving spouse in case of the pensioner’s death.

  • If the pensioner’s death occurs on or after November 1, 2024, the widow pension will be processed starting from December 1, 2024.
  • After pension distribution is completed, unprocessed pension remarks will be captured in the mobile app’s disbursement function.
  • When a male pensioner passes away, details of the spouse, including Aadhar number and contact number, will be captured.
  • The death details of the deceased pensioner will be sent to the Panchayat Secretary (PS) or Ward Administrative Secretary (WAS) for verification.
  • The Welfare & Education Assistant (WEA)/Ward Welfare & Development Secretary (WWDS) will upload the death certificate and verify the spouse’s eligibility.
  • After verification, applications for widow pensions will be sent to MPDO/Municipal Commissioners for approval or rejection.
  • The disbursement process will begin based on the eligibility of the applications.
  • For cases where applicants are deemed ineligible, an endorsement will be created and shared with the applicant.
  • Widow pensions will be granted by the 15th of each month, with payments processed in the subsequent month by CEO, SERP.

When to Apply for Widow Pension
According to the government update, all new widow pensions will be processed in December and released in January. Eligible beneficiaries can apply directly at the Gram Ward Secretariat in December.
