SFI Telangana Calls for Government Schools Bandh on November 30

Hyderabad: The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) Telangana committee has announced a bandh (shutdown) of government schools on November 30, protesting against multiple incidents of food poisoning in government-run schools and the alleged negligence of the State government in addressing these issues.

SFI Telangana president RL Murthy criticized the State government for its inaction, pointing out that despite repeated food poisoning incidents in welfare residential and government schools, no significant measures have been taken to prevent further tragedies. “Students have lost their lives, yet the government remains indifferent,” Murthy stated on Thursday.

SFI Telangana general secretary T. Nagaraju highlighted the absence of an Education Minister for over a year, claiming that the lack of leadership has stalled efforts to address critical issues in the education sector. “The government has failed to conduct reviews on the challenges faced by students in government schools. This bandh is a direct response to the government’s negligence,” said Murthy and Nagaraju in a joint statement.

The SFI has demanded that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao immediately review the education department’s functioning, including hostels and welfare institutions, and take swift action to resolve the long-standing issues. They also called for the immediate appointment of an Education Minister to ensure the proper governance of the sector.
