In Andhra Pradesh, ever since the new alliance government took charge, there has been ongoing discussion about the volunteer system. During the previous YSRCP government, volunteers played a crucial role. Then-Chief Minister Jagan placed significant trust in the volunteers, giving them a major role in implementing government schemes. However, with the new government in place, some are criticizing that the volunteers are no longer being prioritized. Recently, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan’s comments on this topic have sparked interest.
During a recent meeting with village sarpanch associations, some requested the volunteer system to be disbanded. However, Pawan Kalyan voiced his support for the volunteers, stating, “Our intention is to benefit the volunteers,” signaling that the government remains favorable toward them.
Pawan Kalyan also pointed out that the previous government had misled the volunteers, creating instability within the system. The TDP chief and current CM, Chandrababu Naidu, echoed this sentiment, assuring that the volunteers would not be removed. He further mentioned the possibility of creating other job opportunities for volunteers in the future.
Under the YSRCP, the authority given to volunteers impacted the sarpanch system, limiting the roles of sarpanches. Now, with the alliance government in power, sarpanches have regained importance, raising questions about the future of the volunteers. Nonetheless, Pawan’s remarks indicate ongoing support for volunteers, offering hope for their future.
