As the Congress government in Telangana nears its first year in power, it continues to work on fulfilling its promises. Farmers, eagerly awaiting meaningful support, are set to receive some positive news soon. The government has already waived loans, benefiting about 2.2 million farmers with a total of ₹18,000 crore in relief, and an additional ₹13,000 crore is to be credited shortly, according to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
Renaming the previous “Rythu Bandhu” scheme as “Rythu Bharosa,” the Congress had promised ₹15,000 per farmer, up from the previous ₹10,000. However, this increase is yet to be implemented. With the anniversary approaching, the government aims to start fulfilling this pledge, with plans to celebrate 26 days of events from November 14 to December 9.
The Rythu Bharosa rollout will begin with farmers owning one acre and proceed in stages, expected to complete by December-end. Telangana has 13.9 million acres of farmland, and approximately ₹7,000 crore will be disbursed, with around ₹1,500-2,000 crore released every 10 days to complete the process in 45 days.
